A 28-year-old Silver Spring man is expected to spend 75 years in prison for his role in a shooting that killed a 19-year-old and injured two others in November 2022, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office said Monday in a statement.
On Friday, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Terrence McGann sentenced Jonathan Leon-Chacon to 75 years for his role in the Nov. 9, 2022, shooting in Silver Spring that resulted in the death of Willians Anderson Alberto Cruz of Hyattsville. Two other victims who were injured in the shooting survived, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
Leon-Chacon, who waited in a getaway car as the shooting occurred, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and participation in a criminal organization resulting in death, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
