A project planning to bring Pender County its first large, public swimming pool to one of the county’s most populated areas has resurfaced once again.
Jeff Beaudoin proposed an aquatic community center in Hampstead back in 2010 — but plans never materialized. Then, in 2023, updated plans were submitted to the county — this time without a pool. Instead, the project’s focus is on a neighborhood commercial center.
Fast forward to 2026, and yet another set of plans has been submitted to Pender County. Once again, the pool itself has been left out. Instead, a number of community-centric uses are being proposed.
