City council set to approve $4M purchase of building for ‘reuse warehouse’

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Over two years ago, the city of Austin was chosen, along with 24 other communities, to receive funding from the Environmental Protection Agency to support and improve recycling efforts.

Austin chosen to receive $4 million grant to create ‘reuse warehouse’

The city will use the $4 million grant to create a reuse warehouse. City council members are set to approve the purchase of the building that will become the warehouse during their council meeting on Thursday.

According to city documents, the purchase will cost $4,425,000, which includes closing costs. The funding is in the Capital Budget of Austin Resource Recovery, $4 million of which was granted by the EPA back in 2023.
