BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Bossier City Council said it is not ready to walk away from the arts, after voting to cut ties with the Bossier Arts Council (BAC) due to three years of missing financial reports.
The council voted to terminate its agreement with BAC, evicting the organization from its Barksdale Boulevard home after repeatedly failing to submit required reports to the auditor’s office. Audits are now underway, starting with 2023, as officials work to determine what happened to the money.
Council President Chris Smithsays the city is exploring hiring its own employee to manage the facility and plaza across the street to keep cultural activities going.

“In the meantime, the Bossier Arts Council is going to be working on, fulfilling all their obligations, financial obligations,” Smith said. They’re going to be hiring a new director and all of that. And the hopes are that the two will be able to come back together once all of that is complete.”…
