Unauthorized drones detected at Barksdale AFB on Tuesday

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Residents near Barksdale Air Force Base may hear loud explosions Tuesday morning as the base conducts scheduled controlled detonations.

Lockdown at U.S. Air Force Base in Louisiana, shelter-in-place reported, officials respond

Officials with Barksdale Air Force Base announced that the Explosive Ordance Disposal team will carry out controlled detonations from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, near the Moon Lake Range.

According to the Barksdale Air Force Base Facebook announcement, residents on and near the installation may hear loud noises during that time.

The announcement comes just weeks after reports circulated that the base briefly issued a shelter-in-place order on March 9 after unidentified drones were seen hovering near the installations.
