Remarkable Women: Helping others after a cancer diagnosis with Selma Cruz

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It was during August of 2021, while the country was still dealing with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, that concerns about catching a sickness that was still mysterious and unsettling were at the forefront of many people’s minds. This was when Selma Cruz received her own scary diagnosis.

Cruz was working in special education at a local Colorado Springs elementary school at the time, and that was when she started feeling unusually rundown and fatigued.

“We were washing hands like crazy. Everybody’s wearing masks. I was tired and I thought, well, I’m just tired because it’s all this crazy COVID stuff that we’re doing,” Cruz recalled…
