ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is rolling out a new digital system to manage veterans’ medical records, with Anchorage set to be among the first cities to go live.
The VA is launching the Federal Electronic Health Record beginning in April. The Anchorage rollout, along with Cleveland, is scheduled for Oct. 24. Prior to Anchorage, sites in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana will go live.
“This is a digital record of all your health information that will enable us to provide veterans faster care, to our providers better care in the sense they’re not clicking and pasting and actually practicing medicine, and to the VA it will lead to standardization and improve patient safety,” Paul Lawrence, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Deputy Secretary, said…
