COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Ohio’s secretary of state is serving his state and country in a different capacity.
Secretary of State Frank LaRose – an Army veteran — has been activated and is serving with his unit from the Ohio Army National Guard, a spokesperson with the secretary’s office confirmed on Wednesday.

According to LaRose’s biography on the secretary of state’s website, he enlisted in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne after high school in 1998, serving 10 years and ultimately serving as a Green Beret. During his enlistment, LaRose earned several commendations, including the Bronze Star, which honors heroics in a combat zone. Following his deployment, LaRose continued serving as an Army Reservist.
LaRose won the office in 2018 and reelection in 2022; he is term-limited and is now running for Ohio Auditor of State; all May primaries in that race are uncontested…
