1 dead in crash near Loris after vehicle overturns, strikes tree

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — One person has died after a single-vehicle crash in the area of Highway 701 near Loris, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Wednesday afternoon.

Horry County Fire Rescue crews responded just before 2 p.m. to the area of South Highway 701 and McNabb Shortcut Road where the involved car overturned. Extrication operations were used to remove those who were trapped in the vehicle.

A 2012 KIA SUV was traveling northbound when it crossed left of center, ran off the road, overturned, and struck a tree, Master Trooper Joseph Rowell said.
