JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — A planned sand mine project in Jasper County is now facing a challenge in court.
The South Carolina Coastal Conservation League says the project violates zoning ordinances and rezoning it for the mine would affect the Rural Preservation Act and the local environment.
“I ask you just one question,” said a Gray’s resident during the public meeting in February. “If they were to put this mine next to your house, next to your family, next to your water table. Would you be so quick to say yes?”…
