Special Olympics Spring Games draw more than 1,000 to Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – More than 1,000 athletes, teachers, volunteers and fans gathered Tuesday for the Brunswick County Special Olympics Spring Games.

The games were held on March 24 at Town Creek Park in Winnabow.

“This is our largest local event, where every single school in the county and the programs get to come together all for one day, show off their skills and their talents and their abilities out on the fields and be recognized for their achievements,” said Alyssa Coln, Brunswick County special populations coordinator. “It’s one of my favorite days of the year, and it always is such a fun time to see everybody enjoying themselves.”…
