Lafayette Downtown Development Authority seeks $1M for redevelopment plan

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — The Lafayette Downtown Development Authority is seeking $1 million to fund a new Downtown Urban Core Redevelopment Plan. The initiative aims to build on recent progress and set the stage for major investment in the heart of the city.

Kevin Blanchard, director of the Downtown Development Authority, said downtown Lafayette is experiencing a level of optimism not seen in years. The area has made strides in cleanliness, safety, and infrastructure, including the addition of an ambassador program and a new hotel.

“We are at a point right now, I think, in downtown’s history where we haven’t had this much optimism in a long time, and we’ve finally been doing a lot of those structural, logistical, just operational things that have not been accomplished in a long time,” Blanchard said…
