WEST JORDAN — A West Jordan man has been recognized for quick thinking and compassion after he stepped in to stop an elderly woman from losing over $23,000 to a sophisticated phone scam.
Mauricio Campos was working when the woman walked in, and said he noticed something was off immediately. He works at a small quick market.
“She seemed all frantic, panicked, in a worried tone,” Campos recalled. “I was looking at her like, ‘are you OK?’ And she said she was. Then I heard someone on the phone yelling, ‘Do this, do that.’”
