LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Business is booming in the pest control business across the valley, according to Diego Rodriguez, technical specialist with Preventive Pest Control.
“We’ve actually seen about a 50% increase of mosquito calls from this year compared to last year, which was also bigger than the year before that,” Rodriguez said.
Other common calls include cockroaches, scorpions, and bed bugs. Rodriguez said the heat is likely the biggest culprit in this surge of bug activity.

“The correlation between temperature and insects and pests is very obvious. They’re cold-blooded. So the lower the temperature, the less they’re able to move around and reproduce and do all that stuff,” Rodriguez said. But as it gets hotter, their ability to function and go about their day becomes much easier, much more expedited.”…
