Memphis woman indicted on 24 charges related to false tax returns

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis woman was reportedly indicted on more than 20 charges related to false tax returns on Thursday.

According to the Department of Justice, 64-year-old Selma Brinson has been indicted on 24 counts of aiding and assisting the preparation of false tax returns and two counts of witness tampering.

The Department of Justice claims that from 2018 through 2024, Brinson used her tax preparation business to report false items on her clients’ tax returns. Those false items reportedly include fuel tax and residential energy credits…
