Newark man convicted in 2024 domestic violence assault

A Newark man was convicted of aggravated assault in connection with the 2024 strangulation of his girlfriend, prosecutors said.

Kevin Simms, 43, was convicted of aggravated assault — strangulation of a victim of domestic violence — and disorderly persons harassment, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
