FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A new K9 team is now protecting kids in Franklin County.
School Resource Officer Deputy Chad Huston is the handler for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office’s new K9, Tilly.
The 14-month-old yellow Labrador retriever has a special focus: to keep schools safe.
K9 Tilly is specially trained to detect guns and drugs, which adds an extra layer of security on campus.
“She’ll be, eventually, certified in meth, heroin, cocaine, marijuana and firearms. She’ll also be specialized in article searches and tracking as well,” Deputy Huston said…
