Spring wildflower and outdoor events in Sonoma County

Sonoma County’s hillsides and open spaces are full of wildflowers this spring. Local groups are offering guided hikes, bike rides, and volunteer days to help people enjoy and care for these lands. The Sonoma Ecology Center is leading spring hikes at Van Hoosear Wildflower Preserve near Sonoma on April 4, 12, 17, 22 and May 2. The preserve is a 162-acre protected area known for its colorful blooms and rich plant life.

LandPaths invites families to join a guided bike tour to Tomodachi Park in Sebastopol, a park along the Laguna de Santa Rosa that was protected in 2008. The Sonoma Land Trust is hosting yoga, sound healing, and forest bathing sessions at the Santa Rosa Southeast Greenway, a new 49-acre urban park connecting downtown Santa Rosa to nearby regional parks. The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation is also holding a volunteer day at its Laguna Environmental Center to care for native plant gardens. Tools and gloves are provided, and all ages are welcome…
