When Florida State was on the market for a transfer quarterback after the 2025 season, it had a few targets to take visits to campus. They had UNLV’s Anthony Colandra, Auburn’s Ashton Daniels, and Florida’s DJ Lagway all on campus within a couple of days of one another.
The Noles ultimately settled on Ashton Daniels as their choice, but the staff’s decision to bring in DJ Lagway had a huge reaction from the fan base. Lagway was a starter with the rival Florida Gators and a former five-star recruit who had been a mixed bag over the first two years. He was often injured and out of shape, plus he came with a huge price tag.
Some fans wanted him at FSU, citing his talent, but the coaching staff ultimately passed and took Daniels, who has been performing well, according to Mike Norvell.
