Body identified in Colorado cold case may have ties to Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Colorado coroner says a body has been identified in a cold case that may have ties to Cedar Rapids.

In May 2024, hikers discovered human remains near the Deer Creek Campground outside of Denver, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Last December, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation released a reconstruction of what the man could have looked like.

Officials say the man was likely Eastern European, between 30 and 60 years old and between 5′11″ and 6′8″. They said he could have been from Cedar Rapids based on the city’s large Czech community…
