A 65-year-old man was shot in the neck Wednesday evening in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood, adding another violent incident to a community already carrying a heavy burden.
The shooting happened around 5:54 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Kedzie Avenue. The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. Police said no one was in custody following the initial response.
What Police Say
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, officers were called to the 1300 block of South Kedzie Avenue at about 5:54 p.m., where they found the 65-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
The outlet reported that police released a brief statement on the attack and that, as of that reporting, no arrests had been made. Detectives are investigating.
