ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH (WGNO) — Five people are safe following a boat crash in St. John the Baptist Parish on Sunday, March 22.
Around 8:35 p.m., St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call stating a 23-foot boat was taking on water in Lake Pontchartrain near the Manchac Lighthouse.
The vessel reportedly struck an unknown object. Search and rescue teams found the boat around 9:16 p.m. with five people aboard, three women and two men.

Deputies state shortly after the last person was rescued, the vessel capsized and became submerged under the water.
The five were then taken to a relative’s boat. No injuries were reported…
