Trial begins in Council Bluffs for man accused of killing woman in 1989; body never found

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The jury trial of a man accused of killing a woman more than 35 years ago began Thursday morning in Pottawattamie County.

Robert Davis, 62, is being tried in the death of Barbara Lenz. Prosecutors believe Davis killed Lenz on May 6, 1989.

Prosecutor: Evidence proves guilt despite no body

Prosecutor Scott Brown of the Iowa Attorney General’s Office said Davis killed Lenz even though her body was never found.

“A lot will be made in this case about this being a ‘no body case’ — that we don’t have Barbara Lenz. We will submit to you that the evidence in this case will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that despite Barbara Lenz’s absence, the defendant is guilty of murder,” Brown said…
