ST PAUL, Minn. — Highway 280 will soon be completely closed through late August as part of a major construction project to improve pavement, bridges and ramps between Interstate 94 and Highway 36.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says the closure will occur in two phases, beginning with northbound traffic closing on April 13 at 5 a.m., with southbound traffic closing later in the month upon completion of work on Broadway Street. Both directions are expected to be closed through late August. Officials say the highway will reopen for the Minnesota State Fair, but following the Great Minnesota Get-Together, lane and ramp closures are expected through the fall.
“A full closure allows crews to complete this work more safely and in a single construction season,” said north area engineer Chris Bower in a press release. “We understand this is a significant impact to the community and appreciate the public’s patience as we make long-term improvements to this important corridor.”…
