KY3 Chief Meteorologist Ron Hearst announces retirement plans

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Chief Meteorologist Ron Hearst announced his retirement from KY3 after 38 years of service to the Ozarks. His last day at the station will be sometime in late summer.

Hearst has been with the Springfield station since 1993. Earlier in his career, he worked at KSPR for several years. He currently does the weather on-air for KY3 News at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. as well as KY3 News on the CW at 9 p.m. Hearst also leads the KY3 weather coverage on ky3.com and the KY3 First Alert Weather app. Most recently, he is the face of the KY3 First Alert Weather tour, which has visited more than 30 towns across the Ozarks.

“It has been an honor to serve the Ozarks. I want to thank viewers for allowing me into their homes. I have tried my best to provide an accurate forecast that folks can use to protect themselves and their families,” Hearst said…
