Ebbets Field set to reopen this week under new management

Ebbets Field, a sports bar located at 1027 E. Walnut St., is scheduled to have its opening day on Friday, March 27, under the new ownership of Sydney and Jerrad Davis, according to the Ebbets Field Facebook page.

The bar was originally opened in 1981 by Nick Russo and named after the historic Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, N.Y., which was home to the Dodgers from 1913 to 1957. Over the decades, the establishment became a familiar gathering place for Missouri State University students and Springfield residents, building a reputation as one of the city’s most recognizable bars before eventually closing its doors in January 2024.

New co-owners, Sydney and Jerrad Davis, say their decision to purchase the property was heavily influenced by personal ties to the bar and its history within the community.
