Names revealed in 15 cases Metro issued public safety denials

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — News 3 obtained the names of 15 defendants classified by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police as “public safety denials,” in which the department overrode or modified judicial bail decisions based on public safety concerns.

The cases, identified through court records and Metro documentation, involved defendants accused of violent crimes, threats, and repeat offenses.

At the center of the debate is Joshua Sanchez-Lopez, a 36-year-old with a lengthy criminal history, who is now back in custody facing new charges after being accused of going through mailboxes and running a fraud operation. This marked his 36th arrest, and he now faces 27 new charges…
