Market Street in North Spokane reopens after police standoff with man barricaded in car

SPOKANE, Wash. — North Market Street has reopened between East Bridgeport Avenue and East Euclid Avenue after Spokane police were involved in a standoff with a reportedly armed man who was barricaded in a car.

The Spokane Police Department says officers responded to a call from an employee at the Zip’s Drive-In on East Euclid Avenue and North Market Street around 9 a.m. The employee reported a “disorderly” man in the area and asked police to remove him.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside a car. SPD says when officers contacted the man, he pulled out a knife and refused to cooperate. SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team were requested to aid with the situation…
