ATHENS, Ala. (WAFF) – Some homeowners in an Athens subdivision say they’re refusing to move fences their homeowner’s association previously approved, even as the HOA warns they could be billed for removal.
The dispute is playing out in the Brookhill Landing subdivision in Athens near U.S. Hwy 31, where residents say they’re being told to move their fences, in some cases at least 10 feet off their property lines for the HOA to address flooding issues in the neighborhood.
Homeowners say they received written approval before building the fences, but the HOA is now claiming those structures were built in a drainage easement…
