Polk County deputies conduct compliance checks, arrest clerk for illegal alcohol sale

WINTER HAVEN, Florida — Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office conducted compliance checks at nine convenience stores in Winter Haven and Auburndale on March 25, 2026, as part of Operation Pop Top.

The initiative aims to prevent the illegal sale of alcohol and other restricted products to underage individuals, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. An 18-year-old member of the PCSO’s Cadet 1000 program, which is designed for high school students interested in law enforcement careers, assisted deputies during the operation.
