Google announces it will officially move forward with Botetourt County data center

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) Google purchased more than 300 acres of land in Botetourt County’s Greenfield campus for $14 million back in June.

Since then, the data center was simply a proposal, but Thursday morning, Google and county officials said it’s now officially moving forward.

“As someone said on the team, it was an awkward time for the development in between whenever the land was purchased and today,” Botetourt County Administrator Gary Larrowe said. “We were very pleased that they are actually moving forward.”…
