On March 25, 2026, at 6:46 PM, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Chyette J. Smith, 50, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, in Buchanan County. Smith was taken into custody on a felony warrant from San Francisco County, California, related to a sex offense. He also faces charges of being a fugitive from out of state and failure to register as a sex offender. Smith was held at the Buchanan County Law Enforcement Center on a 24-hour hold.
