Lubbock: Don’t stop on busy roads for drive-thru lines

LUBBOCK, Texas–As drive-thru lines continue to grow in popularity, you may often see a line forming on the roadways, and while you may want to stop on the roads, it’s also important to prioritize Texas traffic laws when waiting for service.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, drivers should not stop on a busy roadway if a drive-thru line extends beyond the business’s property. Blocking traffic lanes can create hazardous conditions for other motorists and may violate state laws.

Instead, drivers are encouraged to:

  • Pull into the business parking lot safely.
  • Enter the establishment if indoor service is available.
  • Return at a later time if the drive-thru line is excessively long.
