EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – A federal judge has denied bond to a Texas woman who allegedly admitted transporting drugs smuggled from Mexico to San Antonio on “20 to 30” different occasions.
A Zavala County (Texas) sheriff’s deputy on Monday conducted a traffic stop on a Buick Verano bearing Texas license plates driven by Ana Karina Cervantes, 29.

Records show the deputy called for assistance from a canine unit. A drug-sniffing dog alerted deputies to drugs in the front bumper of the sedan. A closer inspection turned up several packages with 40.7 pounds of methamphetamine.
Cervantes was taken into custody and reportedly consented to an interview with Homeland Security Investigations agents. The woman allegedly said she is an American citizen and that she was paid $2,000 by a man in Mexico to take the drugs to San Antonio…
