Affidavit: Wichita man was going 93 mph just before crash that killed pedestrian

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — New details were released Thursday in the south Wichita crash that killed a Newton man earlier this month.

The affidavit in the case of Martin Tovar-Tavares provides details on what police think led up to the crash that killed Tyrone Carter, 55.

Carter was struck and killed shortly before 10 p.m. March 11 on Topeka Avenue near Lincoln Street. Police said he was pushing a wheelchair south in the bike lane of Topeka when he was hit by a white Ford Focus.

The car then hit the back of a Ford Escape parked on the side of the street, moving the SUV 50 feet, according to the affidavit…
