SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls woman has been sentenced to two years in prison for kidnapping, but those two years were suspended.
Betty Cross pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping of a 7-month-old child in December. Sentencing took place on Wednesday in the Minnehaha County Courthouse. Cross was given credit for already serving 89 days in jail and will be on probation for two years.

On Feb. 28, 2025, a 7-month-old baby was reported missing and last seen on Feb. 27, 2025. The baby had been in Cross’s care for months prior, but investigators say she’d been told that the child would be placed with another family the day before he went missing.
