Ronald McDonald House Central and Northern Arizona Opens First Family Room in the Valley

Ronald McDonald House Central and Northern Arizona has opened its first Ronald McDonald House Family Room in the Valley, bringing a new support space to families with children receiving critical care. Located inside Banner Children’s at Thunderbird in Glendale, the Family Room is designed to provide comfort, rest, and resources for families who need to remain close to their hospitalized child.

The newly opened Ronald McDonald House Family Room serves families with children in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The 710-sq.-ft. space is situated just steps away from these critical care units, allowing parents and caregivers to take a break without leaving the hospital. When a child is receiving intensive care, proximity is essential, and the ability to rest nearby can make a meaningful difference during stressful and emotional situations.

“When a child is receiving critical care, proximity matters,” says Kerry Schulman, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Central and Northern Arizona, in a press release. “This Ronald McDonald House Family Room is about providing families a place to pause, take a deep breath and decompress without ever having to leave the hospital.”

The Family Room includes a range of amenities designed to support both comfort and practicality. Upon entering, families are welcomed into a reception area that leads to a lounge space for relaxation. A kitchenette offers coffee, snacks, and basic refreshments, while Wi-Fi access allows families to stay connected during their time at the hospital…
