Man pleads guilty to gun charges in Attala gas station robbery

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A convicted felon has pleaded guilty to robbing a gas station in Attala, Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine Crosby announced.

Joseph Rainey, 34, of Munford, pleaded guilty to carrying and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

In August 2025, Rainey entered a Marathon gas station in Attala, took a drink from a cooler and approached the cashier as if he intended to pay. He then robbed the cashier at gunpoint, according to court documents. The cashier complied and gave Lee about $500…
