Netflix Raises Prices Again, Leaving Viewers to Pay More This Year

Additional Coverage:

Netflix has implemented another round of price increases across its streaming plans this week, marking the latest adjustment in a series of hikes over the past year. The company raised the cost of its standard plan with ads by $1, bringing it to $8.99 per month. Meanwhile, the standard and premium plans both increased by $2 per month, now priced at $19.99 and $26.99, respectively.

These adjustments follow similar increases introduced in January 2025, coinciding with Netflix’s expansion into live programming, including its recent debut of Major League Baseball content. The last price change prior to that occurred in October 2023.

Netflix has also been broadening its offerings beyond traditional streaming, incorporating more video episodes of popular podcasts from providers such as Barstool Sports and iHeartMedia. These moves appear to be part of a broader strategy to diversify content and enhance subscriber value.

New subscription rates are already in effect for incoming customers, while current subscribers will receive notifications about the updated pricing in the coming weeks. Netflix has not yet issued a formal comment regarding the latest changes.

Financially, Netflix continues to show strong growth, with revenue rising nearly 16% between 2024 and 2025, according to market analytics from S&P Capital IQ. The company’s stock responded positively, gaining 1.13% in pre-market trading on Friday.

Updated Netflix Pricing Overview:

  • Standard plan with ads: now $8.99/month (up from $7.99)
  • Standard subscription: now $19.99/month (up from $17.99)
  • Additional member on standard plan: $7.99/month with ads or $9.99/month without ads (previously $6.99 and $8.99)
  • Premium plan: now $26.99/month (up from $24.99)
  • Additional two members on premium plan: $7.99/month with ads or $9.99/month without ads (previously $6.99 and $8.99)

Subscribers should prepare for these changes as Netflix continues to evolve its platform and content offerings in a competitive streaming landscape.
