Traffic stop for texting while driving leads to drug trafficking arrest in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A traffic stop for texting and driving led to an arrest on drug trafficking charges, the Fort Myers Police Department said on Friday.

According to FMPD, officers conducted a traffic stop after they noticed suspect Loucrucha Jeansimon, 33, texting while driving on Palm Beach Boulevard on Wednesday.

During the stop, FMPD said, officers noticed a smell of marijuana coming from Jeansimon’s car. A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed marijuana. During the stop, officers say, Jeansimon resisted lawful commands while trying to hide something on his person…
