Daughter calls Grand Rapids police search ‘overkill’: See inside elderly couple’s home

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Police left an elderly couple’s home with possessions in disarray, holes in plaster ceiling and walls, and the lingering impacts of pepper spray, the family said.

Grand Rapids police responded around 9:20 a.m. Sunday to a report of a domestic assault in the 1900 block of Darwin Avenue SW near Quigley Boulevard.

Michelle Armstrong, who arrived on scene in search of her parents, said police tactics used to search for her brother were “overkill.”…
