Docs: Man drove 140 mph+ with cocaine in system 5 seconds before May 2025 fatal crash

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been charged after he allegedly was a part of a fatal May 2025 crash on I-465 southbound, where it connects with I-65, after he had both cocaine and Benzolyecgonine in his blood.

According to court documents recently filed in Marion County, 43-year-old Jonatan Soriano was charged with:

  • One count of causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 4 felony
  • One count of causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance, a Level 4 felony
  • One count of reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony

On the evening of May 28, 2025, officials with the Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on I-465 southbound. The driver of a Jeep, later identified as Soriano, reportedly said he was driving southbound when another vehicle cut him off, causing him to lose control. Soriano reportedly had his son in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Court documents stated that Soriano said he was traveling around 80 mph when he lost control and spun off the roadway. Soriano reportedly stated at the time that he remembered hitting a red vehicle…
