City issues over 5,100 tickets since January as part of Rochester school bus camera program

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For just over two months, the City of Rochester has been issuing fines to people caught on camera passing a stopped school bus, and new data shows a drop in violations.

The city’s school bus camera program began with a two-and-a-half-month warning period for drivers, which ended on Jan. 20. So now that it’s been over two months since the program officially began handing out tickets, how do they compare so far?

The warning period began on November 3rd of last year, lasting through January 19th. During that time, a total of 8,856 warnings were issued.
