Coast Guard helicopter touches down at Staten Island’s Fort Wadsworth

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter landed at Fort Wadsworth on Thursday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, a helicopter bearing the unmistakable orange and white Coast Guard colors began to descend to the base at Fort Wadsworth.

The helicopter eventually landed in a grass field between the Father Capodanno Memorial Chapel and the main building for the Coast Guard’s New York sector.

The helicopter bore markings indicating that it had flown up from the Coast Guard’s air base in Atlantic City, New Jersey…
