(Ankeny, IA) — A total of 15 students were hurt when a vehicle hit them outside of St. Luke Catholic School in Ankeny on Tuesday. Nine students were transported to the hospital by ambulance, while another six were transported to hospitals or Urgent Care by family members. Ankeny Police say seven students remain hospitalized following the accident. Those hurt range in age from seven to eleven years old. The children were waiting to be picked up when a vehicle jumped the curb and entered the pick-up line. Police don’t believe the crash was intentional, but an investigation is ongoing.
Police Release More Information About Officer-Involved Shooting on Des Moines’ South Side
(Des Moines, IA) — Police are releasing more information about an officer-involved shooting that led to the discovery of a dead body on Des Moines’ south side. Officers were called to an apartment building for a welfare check after a father said he couldn’t reach his daughter, and believed she was having problems with a boyfriend. When officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old man inside the apartment armed with a knife. Police say he tried to attack the father, then charged towards an officer, who shot him.
