Dirty Diaper Spotted on a Biergarten Table Turns a Whole Community Upside Down

I grew up in Northeast Philadelphia, and although Philly is a giant city with thousands of people, our small communities really feel like small towns. I honestly didn’t expect that when I moved to New Jersey two decades later. I moved to a central Jersey suburb that is full of lifelong townies who know everybody, everywhere. When one tiny thing happens here, everyone knows about it. And apparently, that’s true in all of Jersey. So, allow me to channel my inner Lady Whistledown, dearest gentle reader, and tell you all about 2026 Hoboken Biergarten Diaper Gate.

It all started with a now-removed post on Reddit.

On March 21, 2026, the Hoboken subreddit was buzzing after a community member shared a photo of a couple, their infant, and a diaper sitting out in the open on a table at the Hoboken Biergarten. The original post, which was screenshotted and shared on Instagram, read:

“Trying to enjoy an afternoon at the Biergarten. I get it, include kids in community events. I draw the line when you choose to change your child’s diaper at a reserved table that is not yours, place the dirty diaper on the table, and leave the table without wiping anything down.”

The incensed Redditor went on to clarify that they didn’t hold the biergarten accountable and added that people shouldn’t have to police parents on matters like this…
