Assault suspect rams L.A. deputy’s vehicle during high-speed chase

A man reportedly wanted for assault with a deadly weapon was taken into custody after a pursuit in which he appeared to intentionally ram a law enforcement vehicle.

The March 26 incident started just before 4 p.m. in the southeast L.A. County city of Lynwood.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to KTLA that the suspect was wanted for using his vehicle in assault against a deputy.

While evading sheriff’s deputies, the suspect, behind the wheel of a white Lexus, reportedly hit speeds of 100 miles per hour on the 710 Freeway headed toward Long Beach, prompting law enforcement to back off the chase while the suspect was being tracked by air.

After exiting the freeway in Long Beach, deputies reengaged the chase on surface streets, with the suspect, at one point, stopping in the road, putting the vehicle in reverse and slamming into the front end of the lead deputy’s patrol cruiser…
