A violent incident during the morning rush hour in New York City has raised fresh concerns about safety on public transport.
Teen Stabbed on Subway Train
Police say a 19-year-old man was stabbed during a fight on an L train passing through the East Village. The incident happened near the First Avenue and East 14th Street station at around 8:10 a.m.
According to the New York Police Department, the victim was attacked during a dispute with another passenger while the train was in motion.
Victim in Stable Condition
The teen suffered a stab wound to his leg and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that he is currently in stable condition.
Suspect Detained
Police quickly took a person of interest into custody, and charges are expected. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the argument that led to the stabbing.
