Belleville police: Drunk student runs from school prompts large public safety response

BELLEVILLE, Wis. — Belleville police cited a student Friday after they said he got drunk and ran from the school which led to a large public safety response.

Belleville police said at approximately 3:18 p.m. the student ran from their parent in the school parking lot. School officials placed the school in a hold for safety reasons. School officials told police the student ran up the hill into a wooded area behind the school.

Police and school officials searched for the student, but when the student was not immediately located, police requested additional support out of concern for the student’s welfare. Law enforcement personnel and drones from the New Glarus, Dane County, and Oregon responded, as did Belleville fire with its drone and UTV…
