SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A towering set of car keys now stands at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and St. Louis Street, signaling the beginning of several projects to highlight Springfield’s unique ties to Route 66.
As the city prepares to host the national kickoff for the Route 66 Centennial, the installation of the sculpture marks the one piece of the new Birthplace Plaza.
